What’s New in PostgreSQL 15

The PostgreSQL Global Development Group announced the release of PostgreSQL 15 on October 13. PostgreSQL 15 builds on the performance improvements of recent releases with noticeable gains for managing workloads in both local and distributed deployments, including improved sorting. This release improves the developer experience with the addition of the popular MERGE command, and adds more capabilities for observing the state of the database.

Lætitia Avrot is Field CTO EMEA for EDB in France. She began working with PostgreSQL in 2007. She also had to learn Oracle and SQL Server at the same time. She had a lot of exciting experiences with high availability, production crashes, disaster recovery plan, load balancing, spatial data... She’s involved with the community as she was elected PostgreSQL Europe treasurer, she co-founded Postgres Women, and she's a recognized PostgreSQL project contributor.

Bruce Momjian is co-founder and core team member of the PostgreSQL Global Development Group, and has worked on PostgreSQL since 1996. He has been employed by EDB since 2006. He has spoken at many international open-source conferences and is the author of PostgreSQL: Introduction and Concepts, published by Addison-Wesley. Prior to his involvement with PostgreSQL, Bruce worked as a consultant, developing custom database applications for some of the world's largest law firms. As an academic, Bruce holds a Masters in Education, an honorary doctorate, was a high school computer science teacher, and lectures internationally.
